Classification acts as a gate, judged by both missed threats and false alarms. Regression and forecasting extend 12 to 24 months of history to capture seasonality. Anomaly detection flags break from a baseline. Generative models sit at the overtrusted end, writing fluent summaries that mask dirty data. In Informatica's 2025 survey, 43% of data leaders cited unreliable results, and 38% cited poor data quality as barriers to value. Every output therefore needs one of three lanes. Stop if the time window is missing, rows are blank, or promotions are unlabeled. Verify against a comparable period or holdout group when correlation mimics causation. Act only when the evidence pack is attached, past error is acceptable, and an owner is named. Deloitte found only 15% of organizations using generative AI see significant measurable return, with payback typically taking two to four years, while the 2025 OECD survey shows 39% of small firms use AI mostly for accuracy and manual work. To prove real value, log every decision in an action ledger against a four week baseline. If nobody owns an alert or nobody acts within 30 days, turn it off. That's the review.
